Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Devotion: God cares for you. When was the last time that you sat and really thought about that? The God of the universe loves you and knows you by name. He sees you and where you are at. He has a plan for everything that you have gone through, are going through, and will go through. But sometimes, in the thick of a difficult situation or season, the knowledge that He works all things together for our good isn’t what first comes to mind. Rather, we can feel anxious and worried about what we are going through or anticipating.
God invites us to cast all of our cares, all of our anxiety, on Him. Why? Because He cares for us. He is not burdened by us bringing our thoughts and feelings to Him. When we give those things over to God, He will carry them for us. He will replace our anxiety with peace and give us the reminder that He is in control. So, how do we go about giving our worries over to God? Through prayer.
Prayer can often be intimidating. You may not be sure how to start praying or what words to say. But prayer isn’t meant to be complicated. God gave us the gift of prayer so that we can communicate with Him. He wants to hear what is on your heart. Prayer is a time to praise God for who He is and what He has done. It is also a time to present our requests before the Lord and confess our shortcomings. We can come before Him, imperfect and uncertain of what to say, and He will meet us there. It is such a gift to be able to go directly to God with everything that is on our hearts. Cast all your anxiety on Him today.
Reflect:
- Take the next few minutes to simply be in prayer and give your day over to the Lord. Praise Him and then give your worries and cares over to Him, asking Him to fill you with His peace and reassurance of His love.
