Day 1 Who Am I?

June 01, 2025

Scripture: Ephesians 2:1-5 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Devotion: Who am I? This is likely a question that you have wrestled with at some point in your life. Between trying to pursue your passions, discover your giftings, or even navigate relationships, you have been trying to find your identity. Perhaps you have gone through different seasons in life where you feel like you living out exactly what God has called you to, which was then followed by a season of uncertainty and questioning God.

Honestly, searching to discover who we are can be a lifelong process when we are placing our identity in the wrong things. This doesn’t mean that looking for our identity and worth through our families, friendships, work, or interests is inherently bad. It just means that we will never be satisfied with what we find.

Instead, we can find our identity in Christ. As our scripture for today says, we are made alive in Christ because of His great love and mercy. We are saved, redeemed, and righteous because of Jesus. We are children of the one true King (John 1:12-13).

Throughout this series, we will be looking at what God says about us and our identity, even when we don’t feel good enough or feel as though the things we do don’t measure up.

Today, rest in the truth that through Christ, you are enough. You are made alive.
