Devotional: When it comes to living a life of purity, an important component is accountability. Having someone that you meet with regularly, who checks in on you, helps you set goals, and encourages you when times are tough is important.
It is easy to fall into old habits when you don’t have someone to remind you of your goal. It’s important to be transparent when meeting with an accountability partner, as that is how you will grow and become more consistent in your pursuit of purity. After all, the purpose of an accountability partner is to hold you accountable. This does not mean just talking about what you would like to change, but also making sure that you are taking steps towards that change. And when you backslide at all, they help you get back on track.
This is a relationship that should be chock-full of love, trust, and respect. And when it is, you can do what the Apostle Paul encouraged in the book of Hebrews, “Spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
