Day 14 Calm

November 23, 2024

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Devotion: As we have walked through these examples and stories of prayer from the Bible this week, I am feeling so encouraged. Praying can often seem intimidating. Sometimes we forget to do it altogether. Or we sometimes give up when we haven’t seen the answers we were hoping for. But in each of these stories, I was provided an example of what it looks like to pray in every season of life.

When we are feeling anxious- pray.

When our hearts are hurting- pray.

When we need to be reminded of who God is- pray.

When we are in a season of waiting- pray.

When we need to repent and ask for forgiveness- pray.

When we have an affliction that God has yet to take away- pray.

When we have people in our life who are hurting or lost- pray.

Just like our Scripture verses for today say, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). We have a God who loves us each dearly and has provided a way to communicate with Him through prayer. Would it not be in our best interest to use that as an opportunity to talk with Him consistently?

In every season, we can pray. Through prayer, our hearts are aligned with the heart of our Heavenly Father. We can cast all of our cares on Him and be reminded of the fact that He is good, faithful, and full of love.

Reflect:

  • Spend some time talking to God in prayer. Thank Him for the gift of prayer and that we have the ability to talk with Him any time we want to.
