For consideration as you read:
In yesterday’s devotions, we read the beginning portion of Psalm 73 where the psalmist Asaph lamented about the prosperity of the wicked and the suffering of the righteous. Today’s reading shows a turn in his tone, reflecting his efforts to understand this injustice and how he is able to find peace. As you read this portion of the psalm, consider how you also might reconcile the injustice and suffering you observe in the world.
Scripture: Psalm 73:13-17
Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure
and have washed my hands in innocence.
All day long I have been afflicted,
and every morning brings new punishments.
If I had spoken out like that,
I would have betrayed your children.
When I tried to understand all this,
it troubled me deeply
till I entered the sanctuary of God;
then I understood their final destiny.
