Day 2 Who Am I?

June 02, 2025

Scripture: Romans 3:22-24 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Devotion: Unless we see our sin, we will not see our need for a Savior. That was one of the main points from the message this past week.

I personally have never met anyone that believes that they are perfect. Sure, some people may certainly act as if they think that. But deep down, everyone struggles with insecurities, frustrations, responses, and emotions. We are all flawed. And the verses from Romans today put that succinctly. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Preacher Thomas Watson put it this way, “Until sin be bitter, Christ will not be sweet.” In order for us to truly recognize the overwhelming love and amazing grace of Jesus, we need to see the sin our life. We need to recognize that we have fallen short. All of us. But let’s not miss the verse that comes next in Romans—that all who admit their sin and profess their belief in Jesus are justified freely. They are redeemed by Christ and His grace. He paid the price for our sin once and for all.

We need not be afraid to bring our sin before Him, to confess where we have fallen short. We can proceed with confidence, knowing the response that awaits us: forgiveness and mercy. How much sweeter the love of our Savior when we see the areas that we have sinned and know that His sacrifice is more than enough to cover them all, time and time again.

Reflect:

  • How did you first recognize your need for a Savior? How do you recognize that need day to day?
