Day 21 Is This The End?

August 31, 2024

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 16:22 If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord!

Devotional: Maranatha. That is the Greek word translated to, “Come, Lord!” in our Scripture for today. Remind you of when John says, “Yes, come, Lord Jesus!” in Revelation 22:20? Perhaps as we first started talking about end times, your response would not have been, “Come, Lord Jesus,” but how are you feeling about that after learning more about what is to come?

We started off talking about how Revelation is a story of hope. It is a story about Jesus. Here is what we know: we will either be raptured to heaven or into the clouds to partake in his triumphal entry, Jesus is coming again, He will usher in a new heaven and a new earth, and He will defeat Satan and conquer death once and for all. While we will discuss the nuances of the last few things listed in the weeks to come, all of those things are worth celebrating. They are worth looking forward to. They are worth praying for and pleading that Christ will return again soon.

Is that what you are praying for? Or have you let your fear of the unknown and the mystery of the end times cause anxiety and dread? Let’s recognize that we have a God who is sovereign over all and knows how it all ends. Let’s recognize that at the end of time, all good things await for those who know Christ as their Savior. He will make all things new. Maranatha.

Reflect:

  • How has your understanding of the book of Revelation changed since the start of this series?
  • Have your feelings towards the end times changed?
  • Pray that Christ would return soon. Or, if you have anxiety about that, pray that God will change your heart to long for His second coming.
