Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
Devotional: When the apostle Paul wrote these words to the church in Corinth, he wasn’t talking about marriage. He was talking about not losing heart in the midst of our walk with Christ. But friend, these words certainly hold true for those of us who follow Christ and are married, for marriage is designed to reflect the glory of God.
Aren’t there times you feel hard-pressed, perplexed, and plain old knocked down when it comes to your marriage? Take heart! There are times when things get really rough, but we do not need to give up. In the illustrious words of Chumbawamba,
“I get knocked down and I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down.”
Keep an eternal perspective of the love you’ve been given. Cherish it, cultivate it, and commit to it. Remember, “ It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Reflect:
- Protect. Trust. Hope. Persevere. What do you need most to do today to ensure your love endures?
