Day 21 Second Chances

January 25, 2025

Scripture: Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

Devotion: I find such comfort in today’s Bible verse, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23). As a mom with two young kids, there is not a greater reminder than that of “tomorrow is a new day.” Between them learning to navigate this world and respond appropriately and how I respond to their very big emotions, we all need the reminder that tomorrow is a new day.

And this is one of the most beautiful Bible verses for that. With every passing moment, His mercy is more. When I wake up in the morning, it is another chance to start afresh. It is another chance. Obviously, we don’t have to wait for the morning for his mercy to come about. It is always there. But there is something about a new morning and a new day that brings a special reminder of God’s mercy. That I have another day to live and bring Him glory, sharing the love of Jesus… I never want that to be beyond me.

What a joy that we have a God who forgives us, love us, and redeems us, time and time again. May Psalm 86 be our prayer:

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

    answer me, for I need your help.

Protect me, for I am devoted to you.

    Save me, for I serve you and trust you.

    You are my God.

Be merciful to me, O Lord,

    for I am calling on you constantly.

Give me happiness, O Lord,

    for I give myself to you.

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,

    so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;

    hear my urgent cry.

I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,

    and you will answer me (Psalm 86:1-7).

Reflect:

  • Pray that God would help you to see His mercy all throughout the day. At the end of the day or tomorrow, reflect on how you saw it.
