Grab your Bible, a journal, and a pen to reflect on what God is teaching you through this section of scripture. Here is the format that we will follow:
Be Still: As you read, write out the Bible verse or verses that stick out to you most.
Abide: What truth can you learn? Are there any principles or commands present? What is the overall theme of the text?
Adore: What does the text reveal about God and His character?
Apply: How does this Scripture apply to your life today? How does the truth of God’s Word change your daily perspective? How can you live differently in light of this truth?
Pray: Pray God’s Word back to Him. Turn these thoughts into prayer. Ask the Lord to show you how to meditate on and apply this Scripture to your life.

Perez was the father of Hezron,
Hezron the father of Ram,
Ram the father of Amminadab,
Amminadab the father of Nahshon,
Nahshon the father of Salmon,
Salmon the father of Boaz,
Boaz the father of Obed,
Obed the father of Jesse,
and Jesse the father of David.
For consideration as you reflect:
- The Gospel of Matthew opens with a genealogy (see below). We can pick up where this one left off. We see the name of Boaz in the one above. The last name in this genealogy shows us the importance of it. Does this genealogy shift your perspective at all on the life and story of Ruth?
- Jesus can be thought of as our great and glorious Boaz. After reading about the character of Boaz, are there any new attributes about Jesus that have been brought to light in your own life?
