Scripture: Galatians 2:20-21 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
Devotional: What exactly does it mean to “set aside the grace of God”?
For most, it is that compelling need to pull oneself up from the bootstraps and make your own way. It’s refusing to receive and insisting on achieving. It’s allowing pride to stand in the way of being a recipient of the greatest gift you could ever accept.
In the old order of things, the law was given, mostly to show mankind that there’s no way to keep it. It was given to show our desperate need for a Savior, and even when the Savior came, there were many who refused to acknowledge their need for rescue.
That continues today.
But don’t allow yourself to be one who refuses the magnificent grace of God. Open your heart, your mind, and your life to this extravagant, liberating gift of God. Not only for your salvation, but for your very life day to day.
Reflect:
- What does it look like for you to live crucified on a daily basis?
