Scripture: Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Devotion: We often have a hard time seeing ourselves as a masterpiece. We can point out every flaw, both inward and outward, that we have. The beauty of who God created us to be and that we are a new creation in Christ Jesus is hard for us to grasp. So let me send you off with one more reminder this week: you were created in the image of God.
Throughout all of creation, God calls it “good.” And when He created mankind in His image, He said it was “very good.” Out of all His beautiful, magnificent, awe-inspiring creation, humankind is what He called “very good” and chose to make in His image.
So the next time you question your worth, remind yourself that you are made in His image.
The next time you compare yourself to your friend or your coworker, remind yourself that you are made in His image.
The next time you feel as though you are falling short as a husband or wife, remind yourself that you are made in His image.
The next time you feel inadequate as a parent, friend, or employee, remind yourself that you are made in His image.
The next time you scrutinize the way that you look, remind yourself that you are made in His image.
The next time you find yourself wishing for different strengths or giftings, remind yourself that you are made in His image.
And that is very good. And that is more than enough.
