Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Devotional: We start today with the best gift that can be given to your kids – an all-in love and commitment to God. We’re reminded in Matthew 6:33 to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all of these things will be added unto you.” If you can get this one thing right, your kids will be blessed for a lifetime.
It’s so easy as a parent to get caught up in giving your kids all the things – toys, clothing, phones, computers, fun-filled vacations, and so much more. All because we want them to be happy. They even make a meal for that. But truly, we need to worry less about today's happiness and more about tomorrow's readiness. We need to do more to prepare them to be faithful to God in a very complicated world.
When you model an authentic love for God, your kids will likely be inspired by that love. And no matter what stage of life you’re in, when you love with all your heart, soul, and strength, that kind of love is contagious. It’s inspiring. It’s infectious.
When you love God like that, you’re gifting them with an example to follow. And that’s worth everything.
