Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Devotional: Today’s passage gives us a clue to how prayer is key in knowing and carrying out God’s will. When you pray "God, give me the knowledge of your will for me and the power to carry it out," He will often reveal Himself through His Word. That’s why it’s of utmost importance to be in His Word if you want to follow Jesus, knowing and carrying out the will of the Father.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances.
When you make a choice to do these things, no matter how you’re feeling, no matter what the circumstance, you will gain a greater ability to see things from God’s point of view.
It doesn’t mean you have to live in la la land. You’re simply choosing to see, even in the most dire of circumstances, the perspective that God is Sovereign, that He has purpose in everything, and He will bring about that good purpose in His time.
