Day 19 What God Can Do Through Ordinary You

April 25, 2024

Scripture: Romans 4:3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Devotional: The thing most characterized in Abraham’s life is his belief. Countless times in his life he chose to trust God:

  • when he was called to leave his country
  • when God promised to make his name great and to bless him
  • when God told him he would have a son through whom all this blessing would come
  • when he was asked to sacrifice his son

Abraham is our greatest Old Testament example of how we are saved through faith.  Not by any rite, passage, practice, or sacrament. Faith. Abraham believed God. Not believed in God – his belief translated into action and obedience.

This is a good time to examine your own belief. Do you believe in God, or do you believe God? Scripture teaches that even the demons believe in God. To believe God is to trust Him with your life, to surrender to His will, and to follow Him no matter the cost.

Do your actions correspond with what you believe?

Reflect:

  • Take some time to examine yourself:
    • Will you follow God's leading when you don't know where?
    • Will you wait for God's timing when you don't know when?
    • Will you expect a miracle when you don't know how?
    • Will you trust God's purpose when you don't know why?
