Day 20 What God Can Do Through Ordinary You

April 26, 2024

Scripture: Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.

Devotional: As we’ve continued this week to look at the life of Abraham, and the tests of faith that he endured, perhaps it’s helpful for us to review what faith really is.

In Hebrews 11, the writer’s “hall of faith” begins with today’s definition of faith, prior to recounting all the ancients who displayed it.

Confidence in what we hope for.

Assurance about what we do not see.

Those two words, confidence and assurance, exemplify a life of following Jesus. They are the foundation on which our trust is built. And the by-product of living in confidence and assurance of God’s redeeming work in our life is peace.

The best part of confidence and assurance in Him is that it doesn’t depend on us.  Faith isn’t measured by the one who holds it, but by the One in whom it is placed.

Let that sink in and give you hope today.

Reflect:

  • Even if you have little faith, the object of your faith is more than able to provide all that you need. How might that impact the way you live?
