Day 32 Habits

June 26, 2024

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 NLT So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should...

Devotional: Have you ever trained for something challenging? Maybe it’s a 5K race or a marathon, or some kind of bike race. Perhaps you’ve trained to get your body in shape or for a contest of some kind. And here’s the thing; when you’re committed to training, you get the gear that will help support you in your endeavor. Don’t we do this? We go out and get all the things we need to be successful and prepared for our training regimen. It may be a certain kind of shoes or even the kind of food and drinks you need to nourish your body. It’s easy to drop a lot of money on the gear when we’re committed to a training goal.

And then you get a game plan. You figure out how to prioritize your schedule to accommodate your training. And you commit to it.

That’s the same principle at work when we discipline ourselves for training in godliness. So get the gear. Get a game plan. And commit.

Reflect:

  • When you think about the kind of training it is going to take for you to experience the power of change in your spiritual life, take a few moments to think about the kind of gear you might need. Maybe it’s a study Bible, a journal, or a devotional plan- what do you need?
  • Now think about a game plan. How will you prioritize your schedule for purposeful training in godliness?
