Scripture: Hebrews 6:10-11 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.
Devotion: Don’t let the response of people deter you from your mission from God. People are people. They fall short. They sin. They hurt one another. Even the people that we love most aren’t free from wounding us or being wounded by us. If we let the response of those very same people dictate how we live our lives, we will easily get distracted from the things that God has called us to.
Whatever you do that seems to go unseen by others, your work, the discipleship of your family, how you care for that one hurting person in your life- these are all special to God. He is the God who sees. El Roi. He sees all that you are doing even when others do not. And, “He will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” (Hebrews 6:10).
Fix your eyes on Jesus and the mission that He has given you in this life. Be encouraged that He sees it all. Don’t let the response of people, even those with the best of intentions, distract you from what God has called you to. Above all else, we can seek Him first and know that the reward will be great when we see Him face to face.
Reflect:
- Do you let the response of other people deter you from your mission from God?
- How can you course correct to keep that mission front and center?
