Day 5 The Week Before

March 28, 2024

Scripture: Luke 23:44-46 “It was now about noon and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon because of an eclipse of the sun. Then the veil of the temple was torn down the middle. Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit”; and when he had said this, he breathed his last”.

Devotional: Jesus provides an incredible example for us in His very last words spoken before He died. He looks to the Father. He surrenders Himself to Him. And then he lets go.

Jesus points us to the Father so that we too can throw ourselves into His arms, surrendering to Him, knowing He loves us and will not lead us astray. When we look to God and let go, we too can experience the joy of surrender and the reconciliation with God that Jesus exemplified.

Too often we live with clenched fists, trying to hold on desperately to control. But it’s in the letting go that we can truly experience God’s peace and His generous provision.

Reflect:

  • In what ways do you most need to look to God, surrender to Him, and let go?
